Home with the Flu and Too Much to Do!

I'm at the end of the flu and somewhat stuck at home with way too much to do so I choose to share great cake pics and blog! After the blog, I'm gonna watch Julie and Julia once again and recommend it to any foodies and anyone who loves to cook. Check out the pic on the left with the carved horse on the left and the Pepe cake on the right! Enjoy the pics! These are custom cakes, which can be requested through our website's "Order Custom Cake" form.  Of course you can order cakes online from our website if you want one of our delicious standard cakes!

Sweetly, Robyn

Cake Floats!

Our team put together an awesome float for the Reston parade and it's my favorite this week- nearly 7 feel tall and gorgeous, although unfortunately its not edible but it could be! There's Sharon, one of the creators on the left. Great job - AWESOME! Thanks to Susan and all EI employees who helped create our first great float! Hope all had a wonderful Turkey Day!

What Happened to the Last 2 Months?

We cruised for 2 weeks and didn't want to come back but back to the reality of our daily routine! Then we were off to Charlotte for the American Retail Bakers Association conference. We met some old friends and new ones as well. Joe Gibbs was our keynote speaker. . .he had lots of advice on football plays. The correlation to bakers was great. Then Buddy (Cake Boss) presented a life size car made of cake to Gibbs of race car fame. It sure smelled terrific. Pictures to follow! Hope you are well and remembering to eat your sweets! And by all means, try our Caramelicious Cake! Four layers of our wonderfully moist butterscotch cake layered with our fantastic homemade caramel icing! It is divine! It's now available to be shipped directly to you from our website, ediblesincredible.com.

We Ate Our Way Through Chicago!

I whisked Alan away to Chicago for his birthday celebration. . .just a few days to get away from the hustle and bustle of Edibles Incredible Desserts. . .to play hard, eat well, and enjoy each other's company on this special occasion.

The weather was divine, the food was outrageously amazing (especially at Viand on Ontario Street, a few blocks from the Lake), the jet skiing fulfilled all of our desires to be on the water looking back at the gorgeous Chicago syline, and the Shoreline Architectural Boat Tour was even better than I remembered almost 12 years ago. We missed Oprah but perhaps next time!

Chicagoans are wonderfully warm and authentic people (at least all of those that we met minus a few cab drivers and one waiter at Gibson's who was very snooty). He tried to tell us in no uncertain terms that the Chef had no recommendations on how the beef (which they are famous for) would best be cooked and served. Horse crap! Every Chef I know has a recommendation. And, to make matters worse, we overheard the waiter serving the couple at the table adjacent to us give the Chef's recommendation on cooking the steaks. The food was alright but I prefer Ray's the Steaks in Arlington. If I'm going to eat beef, I want the best for the least amount of money. Ray's does it for me!

All in all, mission accomplished. . .a great short vacation which allowed us to play, rest and eat really really well - a good thing for two foodies!

I'll be back in a few days with some great cake pictures from the weekend!

Let us all eat cake!

Regards,

Robyn

We always refer to Fridays at the Production Facility as "Hell Days" because the pressure is on to create and finish the most beautiful special order cakes, especially the wedding cakes for Saturday deliveries.

For those of us (self included) that work in the corporate office, we find it an absolute pleasure to see the creations.

My fave this week was a Hawaiian inspired cake. Check it out! Another fave. . .well, you'll see the pic.

Have a great weekend!
